Why you need enzymes supplements
Digestive enzymes are enzymes that break down molecules into their smaller building blocks so that they can be absorbed and utilized by the body. Digestive enzymes are found in our digestive tract and aid in the digestive process. But digestion is just a small part of what enzymes do. Enzymes start and facilitate thousands of other functions in the body as well. It’s a fact that the lack of enzymes can even be the root cause of disease. Our immune system, bloodstream, kidney, liver, spleen, and pancreas need enzymes to function. In fact enzymes are involved in every bodily function--even functions like breathing and thinking. Enzymes are a very important part of our overall health and well-being. So the answer to the question; “Do we need enzymes?” is an absolute YES! Without digestive enzymes, the food that we consume would have to decay enough that the proteins would break down enough to be absorbed. It would be like placing a small amount of food into a warm moist container and waiting for it to turn to gel naturally. Talk about stinky breath!!!
Now the question is “How do we replenish our enzymes?” The only way we can preserve and replenish the enzymes is by eating raw foods and taking supplements. Enzymes are destroyed in the cooking process. If we eat mostly cooked foods, we are, in essence, killing and depleting all of those important enzymes. This month I have chosen Alfalfa as the herb of the month. Why? Alfalfa is considered the king of all herbs when it comes to its enzyme content. Alfalfa includes lipase (a fat splitting enzyme), amylase (an enzyme that breaks down starch), coagulase (an enzyme that clots blood or milk products), emulsion (an enzyme that acts upon sugar), invertase (the enzyme that converts sugars into a more usable form of energy/dextrose), peroxidase (the enzyme that helps to oxidize the blood), pectinase (helps form a vegetable jelly as a digestion aid), and protease (breaks down proteins for digestion).
How do enzymes relate to weight loss? The digestion process relies on enzymes to break down the food to a point that the nutrients can be extracted and the toxins can be eliminated. Without enzymes, the body wouldn’t be able to absorb the nutrition that it needs. It would then start to hoard the nutrients and store them for future use. As teenagers, many of us were able to eat much more without gaining weight. That’s because as teenagers, our enzymes are lively and fully active. As we grow older and eat cooked, processed, dead food, we eliminate some of those enzymes. Naturally, that is a major contributor weight gain. We, at Grandma’s Herbs, believe that enzymes are an important part of a complete weight loss program. That is why we include digestive enzymes in our weight loss meal replacement drink, SlimSmar,t and we also include Nature’s Enzymes (with Alfalfa as one of the main ingredients) in our COMPLETE WEIGHT LOSS PACKAGE. We always do what we know is right by combining specifiv ingredients. Why? Because they work!
